junior-senior prom Marsha,Nick crowned Acropolis royalty Days of planning and preparation culminated as the junior class proudly presented its interpretation of the annual Junior-Senior prom to the honored seniors. Planning began the previous fall as juniors loyally participated in magazine sales to raise money for the anxiously-awaited event. A committee of juniors busily attended to the task of contracting the Cotillion Ballroom from 8:30 to 11:30 on the evening of January 28 and inviting Bill St rout’s Orchestra to provide music. After careful consideration, a theme of Greek mythology was chosen, and the prom donned the colorful, unique name of “Acropolis Ball.” Such details as selection and announcement of candidates for royalty, sale of tickets, design and construction of table decorations, and preparation of programs were meticulously considered and acted upon by the committee. Formally clad Colonels and guests arriving for the Acropolis Ball were greeted by a reception line composed of junior class officers. Sophomores Jack Houser. Mark Jackson. Jim Simpson, and Larry YVeinbrenner served as doormen. Highlights of the evening came as Master and Mistress of Ceremonies Dick Jespers and Karleen Nevil announced the beginning of coronation ceremonies. Queen candidates and junior attendants to the queen were spot-lighted as they crossed the dance floor on the arms of their escorts. A trumpet fanfare, a burst of applause, and a royal kiss began the short but enchanted reign of Queen Marsha Cromwell and King Nick Bentley. Senior attendants were Connie Clum, escorted by Kit Shurtleff, and Sheila Zamora, escorted by Steve Cochran. Junior attendants were Niki Schmedcmann, escorted by Gerald Isaacson, and Vicki YVeinbrenner, escorted by Marvin Patterson. 19 Sick lifutln makes the title Queen Marsha l tidal as he places the laurel wreath u|x n her head.
