TO THE CLASS OF '81 I never thought that time would pass so quickly. Itis hard to believe that Graduation is here. As I stand here waiting for my name to be called, I see that most everyone around me is as excited as I am. As I move closer to the time of getting my diploma, I do not think of the fun Iill have when I'm finally through, but all I can think of is the fun I had in high school. I laugh to myself when I think of all the times we spent shivering on hard bleachers at football games. I remember waiting in line for fifteen minutes to get a hot lunch, then only having fifteen minutes to eat the frostbitten morsels of what is left of that hot lunch. I think of the many days when we stood in the freezing weather waiting for buses that were twenty minutes late, and by the time we got on the bus, the students already aboard were so hot that they had windows open. I also think of sitting in the classroom having a studyhall because it was, as some teachers said, too hot to have class. I remember, too, the days you could get suspended for holding hands in the halls. There were just as many, if not more, good times as there were bad times: I remember Prom night, the best event of all, finally seeing everyone dressed up at once, wondering if we'd get there on time or who would get caught doing something naughty. V I remember Homecoming Ceremonies, wondering who would win, getting out of classes to decorate the gym and making tissue flowers until there were enough of them or until everyone was sick of making them. At the Big Bonfire Celebration, everyone seemed to have their own little celebrations. Also, I remember the pep assemblies, sometimes few and far between, seeing who could yell the loudest and the different ways the cheerleaders coaxed us to cheer louder. Senior Switch Day, too, was funny seeing who would mess up the most. Now as they call my name and as I walk up to get my diploma, I realize that those times are in the past, and I begin to think of tomorrow. But, I'll never forget all the fun we had because the memories of those high school days will be with me forever. As you look through the pages of your yearbook, think of all the fun times you had. And, remember one thing: These are the best years of your life! by: Kristina Peterson
