Traditional achievements included a candy apple sale for Halloween, a Christmas stocking donation to the Bed Cross, and the most important function - the Blood Drive - in which a record 64 pints was donated to the Pittsburgh Blood Bank. A first-year Spring Project con- cerned a donation of recreational items to the Ward Home for Children. Members also assisted in fall and spring Health-O-Bamas at area malls. Tours at Jefferson Hosp. and West Penn School of Nursing were arranged for the exploration of medical careers. The following speakers were hosted by the club: Sally Speer, Blood Bank Field Rep., Bon Dietrich, Program Director of Ward Home, and Eileen Bahler CMr. BahIer's daughtery, Staff member of Bed Cross Summer Volun- teer Program at Grove City College. Congratulations were extended to Marion Ftudek, Secretary, who received an S800 scholarship from the Southwestern Pennsylvania RN. Club toward Pitt's School of Nursing. QTUDEN T SECRETARIEQ The student secretaries, aside from gain- ing iob experience tor themselves, were an invaluable aid to the teachers, by doing dit- tos, tests, and almost all typing, which gave teachers more time for grading and class preparation. 6:-wa. The F.T.A., sponsored by Miss Mendelson, student taught again this year as in the past years at the tour elementary schools in our area and tutored students here at South. An installation of new members was held followed by tea and coffee, where Mr.Carr spoke to the group on philosophies on teaching. The group's funds went toward a scholarship to a Senior going into teaching, Mel Kavic. The quilt is displayed on the wall in the Library.

Rep.: Pam Guthrie The F.B.L.A. raised money tor their annual banquet to honor seniors through candy sales and selling student directories. They attended regional and state competitions, where Lynne Alexandrotf won the election for Regional Reporter, and on March 14, the entire club went to competition placing: First- Rona Yesovich, Lau- rie Belan, and Renee Schneider, Second - Patti Goemple.
