Bosley August 29, 1923 - September 26, 1979 Each person has his story and Mr. Bosley told his by dedicating his life to music. He obtained a Bachelor of Science and Master of Art in Music from Duquesne University and served in the Armed Forces for three years while he played in the United States Army Band. During his teaching career, he enriched the music departments of Carrick High School, Latimer Junior High School, and Fifth Avenue High School. His twelve year affiliation with West Mifflin encompasses his conducting of Edl- son Junior High School Band and our high school orchestra. As part of his instruction, as well as professionally, Mr. Bosley enjoyed arranging music. Because of his interest and talent in music, he was a freelance, professional trumpet player in the Pittsburgh area. We have lost not only a valuable teacher, but also a friend. Mr. Bosley was well liked by all his instrumentalists, student teachers, and fellow faculty members. We pay tribute to his potential, and we will all miss his conducting, his woodshedding , and his warm personality. Through her pain and suffering, Mrs. Durocher remained open and dedicated to her work and her students here at West Mifflin South. She received much of her education, first at Duquesne High School, and then at Westminster Col- lege before serving our country proudly in the Navy and Air Force for three years. Her teaching career extends from Dutf's Business School to West Mifflin South High School. Here at South, she enjoyed many years of teaching and truly helping each student to bring out their creativeness and uniqueness. For many years she was also the dedicated sponsor of Future Business Leaders of America. She worked earnestly to help the club's members to get a better look at the business world along with the many fun and educational activities they both participated in. We, her students, and especially the Future Business Leaders of America, will miss her warm spirit of dedication, her humor, and her many contributions. This was done through a dramatic adaptation on Mark Twain's classic novel, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, which was presented on February 23 and 24. Due to an experi- ment on which he was working, Hank, was thrust back to the era of King Arthur and his glorious C75 knights. There encountering people full of superstition and backward customs he used his technological genius to transform 16th century into a modern, industrial nation. Mean: while, the evil Merlin and Queen Morgan LeFay were plotting to take over the kingdom. ln the final outcome, Hank foiled their wicked plot only to be foiled by love for a damsel in distress. Leaving behind Clarence, Sagramor, Lancelot, and Elaine, he returned back to his own time to meet his mother and sister. Set in a majestic castle with a cast costumed in elegant medieval garments, the play presented a glimpse of the magic, mystery, and grandeur of a place that once was known as Camelot. Their performance was produced by Mr. Robert Pre- pelka, sponsor, and Alice Alfonsi, stage manager. The proceeds will be used toward the annual Sr. banquet, Elaine fKim Lloydj calls Factory Five. Hank CMario DiBelloJ looks over his plans Merlin tJean Andresj casts an evil spell. forthe new business. Alice shows Tom how to use the sword, Quiet, ye fool! They are ready Queen Morgan. li .4 - - For crying out IoudlTake it easy with the water, will you? Once again the marching band pre- pared forthe school year by attending band camp at Indiana University. This year they also added to their list of performances the Keystone Oaks and South Allegheny Band Festivals, and the Azalea Festival Parade in Norfolk, Virginia. Assisted by the Band Parents Organization, they raised money for band camp, trips, banquet, and jackets by hoagie sales, Entertainment book sales, and by painting house numbers on the curbs in the neighborhoods. All members of the band also attended the Annual Music Banquet on May 22. Tom Bekavac and Brian Rosen were delegates to the District Band and Brian Rosen also attended the Regional Band.
