Royalty 1986 The crowd was filled with anticipation as the 1986 Homecoming candidates assembled before us. Our week long wait for the elections' outcome was extended for the traditional dance. The five couples danced to the sounds of Jason Keillor as the student body looked on. The applause rose as the 1985-86 King and Queen, Kaj Winje and Christa Schmidt, brought fonh the crowns. Suspense grew until finally the two crowns were placed upon the heads of Ashley Hamilton and Jeff Sworski. The annual event soon drew to a close. From students to royalty, did they really change?” Above: The Homecoming King and Queen share a special moment. Clad in red velvet robes, they carry on royal custom. Left: Junior Herman Westreich and Senior Simon Obcrholzer received many compliments on their special matching dresses. Simon is an exchange student from South Africa who is staying with Herman.
