Fall Play “Of Mice And Men99 Is A Smash Hit! In the classic “Of Mice And Men,” John Steinbeck writes of the desperate longing of men for some kind of home-roots that they can believe in, land that they can care for- and the painful search for self. This timeless play speaks of the love that men can feel for each other; one inarticulate, dumb, sometimes violent in his need; the other clever, hopeful, and tied to a responsibility he thinks he doesn’t want. South High’s Theater production of the play was held on November 17, 18, and 19, 1982, with following cast: VAGABONDS .... The 1982 Sadie Hawkins Comes ‘Home99 This years dance was held on November 12, from 6:30 to 10:30 in the commons. Although it was the first time that Sadie was held here at South, that didn’t stop the 80 couples from having a great time. Throughout the evening the sheriffs were kept busy rounding up the guys that had strayed from their dates. Then the gals had to bail them out of jail with either a kiss or a nickle. There didn’t seem to be a large amount of nickles changing hands, but all jailbirds obtained their release. Much fun was had by all couples trying out the square dance steps, getting hitched by Marrin Sam, and having their pictures taken for posterity. 20 — Sadie Hawkins
