 Lack Of Snow Daze” Is Winter Theme This years Sno-Daze was called Lack Of Sno-Daze” because of the lack of snow. The week before Sno-Daze the temperatures rose into the 50’s and 60'$, and melted all the snow. Because of this lack of snow, a lot of the activities were cancelled. This years Sno-Daze week was held February 03-07,1981. Monday night the South High Tiger Hockey team beat Litchfeild in overtime 6-5, in the beginning of the play-offs. On Thursday, students and teachers dressed in the most clashy” clothes they could find for clash Day. Students and teachers were judged and winners were chosen. That night. Cororation was held in the South Auditorium. Entertainment was provided by South Singers. Jazz Band and a duet by Karin Gustafson and Randy Brekhus. and by the Tigerettes. The 1980King and Queen. Larry Larson and Sue Moats. crowned David Wilhelmi and Tammy Wise the 1981 King and Queen. West Side Story”-Largest Crowds Ever For A South Musical This year's fall musical was West Side Story”, which was comprised of about 60people in the cast and crew. There were about 3,000 people who attended the performances. This included the four nights and the two matinees, one for the Jr. Highs and another for the English classes. This year's production represented many weeks of effort by the Cast. Crew. Terry Hanson. Nancy Doede. Lois Arth and many others who made this production a hit. As with any musical production at South, the cast endured hours of strenuous dance, music, and acting rehearsals. This particular play was chosen not only for its challenge but because of its subject matter. The musical is a modern adaptation of Shakepeare's Romeo and Juliet”, with the setting in New York. The musical is centered around the fighting ghetto gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Tony's (played by Bill Brown) love for Maria (Lori Schuda) is shattered by the hatred of the two gangs, that led to misunderstanding and tragic bloodshed. WEST SIDE STORY CREW.
