Does Your Fu ture Lie In An Elective Class? Every student, in order to graduate needs forty-five credits. Twenty-one of those are in elective classes. All of the language classes except German were offered this year. Other classes offered were: Driver Education, Consumer Clothing, Econom- ics, Industrial Arts, Typing plus numerous music classes. This years elective classes seemed to bring out the talents of the students in such classes as art and music. Many students have taken the two-hour block classes at South as well as other schools. This gives students the chance to meet kids from different schools and the chance to persue some type of career. 20 Elective Classes Xi xx Q l sk! 1. sss

The Bands Play On! Under the new direction of Joe Darwich, this years bands made many changes. For the first time in many years band officers were elected. Officers were: Tammy Wells, Presidentg Steve Janey, Vice Presidentg Sara Bruss, Secre- tary, Barb Marden, Treasurer and Kaarina Ornelas, Social Committee Chair- man. The Marching Band played at all the football games, including two at Parade Stadium, and they marched at three home games. Some band members were known for Teepeeing. Marching band planned to have an Indoor Marching Band Concert in the spring. Pep Band would have liked to play at all the basketball and hockey games, but because of a budget cut they were only allowed to perform at four games for each sport. Jazz Band started out small this year with only ten players, but their numbers increased during the year. Among their performances were Homecoming Coro- nation, the Holiday Concert, Sno Daze Coronation, and they hoped to take a performing trip in the Spring. -xr? 'f -1- . 3 4 , -. - if x ... The Marching Band performs the Star Spangled Banner and the Rouser before the start of the football game. 4. Kip Overbo, Mike Janey, .lim Korpi, Michell Beal, Greg Supalo, Gigi Mahoney and Barb Marden line up before performing at the halftime ceremonies. 5.
