Homecoming Spirit Holds Up As The Rain Pours Down In spite of the miserable weather. Homecoming was a big success. The week of September 19-22nd held many different activities for all involved. The week began with coronation on Monday night with Steve Westby and Terri Foster being crowned King and Queen. As the week went on, the activities included a Pancake Breakfast at Viking Village bright and early on Wednesday morning and a very enjoyable hayride the following night at Hanson's Ranch. On Friday, even though the weather was downright miserable, many students went out to cheer the Tigers on at the annual Homecoming Football Game. Even though South suffered a loss with a score of 6-7 to Henry, many students still joined in at the dance that evening to conclude a very busy Homecoming week. 14 — Homecoming

Student Council Gets New Name This year the Student Council changed its name to Student Union. The officers wanted to get more students involved in student government. Open meetings were held in the auditorium and about 150 students attended regularly. One thing they did this year was to develop standing committees so underclassmen who have had some experience could take over the following year. They also set up a time capsule to be filled with things they felt were important to remember about this class. It will be opened at reunions. They held a Holiday Disco on December 22nd, 1977. THE 1977-78 STUDENT UNION OFFICERS AND ADVISORS: Michele Steele, Advisor; ncd( vm Becky Lane, Treasurer; Jill Miller, Vice President; Patti Peterson, Secretary; Debbie LaPlant, President and JoAnn Warnke, Advisor.
