“How Did You Feel When He Died?” Elvis Aron Presly was born January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, and died August 16, 1977 in Memphis Tennesse. When South students were asked about their reaction to his death some reactions were, I thought it was a gimmick of some kind until I realized it was no joke. , I was shocked! , It was really sad! , I really didn't care. , It was a great loss. , He was a great person and a caring man! . Elvis was born shortly before noon and was a twin. His twin brother Jesse Garon, was still born. Elvis was born in poverty and promised his mother that he would take care of her and dad. At age 9, Elvis performed for his first audience, his classmates. At age 10, Elvis won 2nd prize in a talent contest at the fair. He sang his mothers favorite song, Old Shep . That same year his father, Vernon, bought him his first guitar. In 1953, Elvis and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennesse. In 1954, he signed a contract with Sun Records and recorded his first hit, That's All Right MaMa. Elvis was labled Elvis the Pelvis dur-ing his early years and could only be shown from the waist up on any of his early TV shows. Elvis took a break in his career to serve in the army as private U.S. 53310761, he was discharged in 1960 and continued in his career. On August 14, 1958, Elvis' mother died. Elvis took this very hard. He also carried the memory with him. In 1967, Elvis married Priscilla Beaulieu. In 1968 they had a child, Lisa Marie. In 1974 Elvis and Priscilla were divorced. The KING OF ROCK may have left stage for the last time but he will never be forgotton in the hearts of people through his 31 films, 47 45's, some 86 albums, pictures, and books. THE KING OF ROCK IS HERE TO STAY
