Becky Nuhring Tim Grice Homecoming 1968 included the most important event for the entire year - THE GROUNDBREAKING for the New South. The Master and Mistress of Ceremonies, Andy Ryan and Rikka Tellgren, presided over the afternoon pro- gram. Members of Mr. Schell's class presented a short skit entitled You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Then came the Soul Purpose , the band which also played at the dance that evening. Of course, the highlight was the corona- tion of King Tim Grice and Queen Nancy Davis. Following the crowning came a rousing pep fest. Next, all were invited to participate in a march to the site of the New South. There, speeches were delivered about the New South. Five gold shovels inscribed with SOUTH were used to break ground . The marchers then continued on to the decorated New Field, where our Tigers won our first victory of the season against Central. The final event of the day, the dance, was in our Student Lunchroom. Everyone agreed that Homecoming 1968 was the best South had ever seen. 18
