OUR PRINCIPAL MR. SHAWBOLD SENIOR CLASS 1968: When you entered school last September, all of you were participants in a unique educational experience. South High School was selected as the first school in Minneapolis to innovate an instructional program involving team teaching, flexible scheduling, and independent study. This program provides an opportunity for teachers and students to work together in class sizes and blocks of time appropriate to the subject and type of instruction necessary to meet the needs of all students. Our flexible, modular scheduling has given all students an opportunity to assume greater responsibilities prior to graduation. We hope this past year has given you an exciting and enriched educational experience. Best wishes to all of you and may each of you face the future with wisdom and understanding. OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL MR. LARSON For three quarters of a century South High has been a strong force in Minneapolis educational endeavors. This has been a proud era for South and all who have shared in her glory. This year a new era has begun with the introduction of “modular scheduling, a most innovative, exciting. and challenging instructional program. A first for South High! A first for Minneapolis public education! The opportunity to become involved in logical and meaningful change in our school program brings with it many challenges and responsibilities. Our students and staff meet and found solutions to each challenge, and maintained a mature and responsible attitude toward the promotion of a sound High School program in keeping with the high standards and traditions that have distinguished South High these many years. We are all justly proud of South!
