“OUR SENIOR DRAMATISTS” June Mad”, a three act comedy, was chosen as the senior class play; it was portrayed by members of the June Class. Joan Horton played the part of Penny Wood, the 15 year old girl, who couldn't decide if she wanted to be a tomboy or a young lady. Her parents were portrayed by Beverly Freeman and Douglas Ludvigson. Penny is trying to make a hit with Roger Van Veck played by John Moline, who is supposedly a Casanova. After she finds him flirting with Julie Harris. Fern Fedderly. she gives him up and turns once again to her old faithful Chuck Harris. Jerry Johnson. The rest of the members of the cast are: Swede Olson, Donna Nida. Neil Lortis, Marilyn Zummack. Roger Hanson, Margaret Johnson and Darrell McIntosh. The play was directed by Mr. Wesley Kelly and assisting him were Judy Siple and Mary Ring, student directors.

IS BIG SUCCESS At last the big day has arrived. Homecoming! Hats off to our King and Queen. Gary Johnson and Ramona OstrorH We give cheers to our fighting football team end to Les Barnard on his 20th anniversary of coaching at South. The Coronation Ceremonies which were held in the auditorium, headed ffie Homecoming Festivities. Mr. Barnard's first team, the '28 champions, were on hand for the program. The big event of the day was the South vs. Edison game at the Nicollet Fieid. The band played an important part in the entertainment period at the half. Even though Edison was the victor everyone was in the best of spirits. Next on the agenda was the annual Homecoming dance held in the boys' gym after the game, me festive atmosphere was completed by the smooth music of Pete Swan's Orchestra. The alumni also joined in to make the Homecoming of 1948 a memorable one.
