FOREWGRD The class ot i946 has lived through the hardships ot the most de- structive war the world has ever witnessed. The war had-i-tsintluence upon school lite as well as society in general. Schools had to face new problems and hardships. You did your part well. l commend you tor your taithtulness and dili- gence. South l-ligh School, in order to tultill its mission tor war prepared- ness, operated around the clock. Almost titteen hundred sons ot South answered the call to service. Over a hundred ot these laid down their lives. Now the picture is changing. You who have worked so faithfully during the war must join atter graduation the legion to aid in the reconversion era. Young America, arise to the new call - call to conquer new realms. These realms may be right before your eyes and are awaiting you. They challenge all your latent energies. Be ever ready to meet this challenge without pro- crastination. Remember the task ot today must be done today: it cannot be done tomorrow. Let each day be the epitome ot a lite of endeavor. We sow today that which we shall later reap. Today's seed ot diligent work, taithtul service, unseltish endeavor and loving kindness will blossom abun- dantly and gloriously on the morrow. The saying In a today walks a tomorrow contains more prose than poetry. Smead 0. Seamm
