MR. SHERMAN CORYEll Under the firm but fair control and guidance of our principal, Mr. Coryell, South High has operated efficiently for many years. He has held this demanding position since he came to South in 1940. He had previous experience teaching in Alpena, Lansing and Grand Rap- ids Central. One of Mr. Coryell's main re- sponsibilities is to co-ordinate the many phases of our school. His uniting the teachers into a co-op- erative group better enables them to perform their duties for the ben- efit of their students and the school. When school affairs operate well on their own, Mr. Coryell doesn't interfere. However, when his experience and guidance are needed, they are freely given. Mr. Coryell is a quiet man. He speaks softly, but with firm con- victions. He has a pleasing person- ality and an understanding of human nature. The students of South salute this man upon whom the present and future and South High is dependent. OFFICE STAFF Miss Jean Bo aski Mrs. Gertrude g'yma The office is probably the busiest place at South High. The staff keeps all the records, sends transcripts to colleges, and keeps track of school supplies. These are only a few of their duties. As one of the workers said, What is there that we don't do?
