Xlr. Sherman Coryell Principal If you could be three people instead of one and stand across the street from each of South Highs front en- trances. you would see lo5S youths ranging from thir- teen to twenty years of age. leaving an institution which, to a great degree. molds their lives. just as the president of a manufacturing company has the responsibility of coordinating the policies, ac- tivities. and resources of the plant, so does our prin- cipal. Sherman Coryell. have the responsibility of co- ordinating the educational policies. the student activi- ties. and the cultural resources of our school. Soutlrs principal is liberal in his ideas, encourages vvide opportunities for the students. and is considerate toward the faculty. lf a student or an organization has 1 N J I a problem. he is a ready listener and offers good sug- gestions. lo keep a school running smoothly, to balance the needs of pupils and teachers, to try to fulfill the requirements of both business and the home demands the leadership of a man of vision like Sherman Coryell. The spirit of fellowship is mystic bond of bother- hood that makes all men one. Sherm. as he is affec- tionately knoxvn. has helped to instill this spirit in the hearts of Southites. llere. the principal-teacher- student relationship. based on confidence in his sense of right and justice. is friendly and democratic. Stu- dents leave school. but desire to return and often do so. Our hope is that his euidance xvill continue in the years that lie ahead.
