Spencer M. Bennion Vice-Principal must be made continually It IS necessary to 1 f . . e have people to whom you can go for mature counsel when you are faced with momentous decisions pertaining to fields in which you have had no previous experience. Counselors and vice-principals fill this position. They, being the guidance center of the school, are continually in Contact with the students and their uncertain- ties. What classes should I take next yearffy' What scholarships are available? and What is the budget for our next dance?', These are familiar questions asked a vice-principal. Counselors, on the other hand, deal with the perplexities of the student pertaining to relations at home, at school, and their relationships with others. No distinct line can be drawn between the duties of a counselor and vice-prin- cipal, for most students feel free to seek the guidance of either of these to aid them in making decisions. Having answers to most questions and solutions for most problems counselors and vice-principals help to guide the affairs of a school and are certainly one of its main-stays. Like experienced observers, they view their radar screen and direct their complex traffic pattern.

GUTEN TAG. Y, 129' QE: IoAnn Marsh Grace H. Healy Paul F. Luckau Elizabeth B. Marshall Bonjour, Buenos Dias, Salve . . . is it the Tower of Babel I hear? No, it's just the language classes practicing the unfamiliar sounds of a foreign tongue. People must understand one another to be com- patible, and since language remains as the basis of human communication, learning anotherls lan- guage is a step towards better understanding and world peace. A language course not only gives one experience in mental gymnastics, but it also provides a profound knowledge of the Cus- toms, geography, and history of that country. This personal insight to foreign lands can be ob- tained in no other way. If you think English is hard, try German, the language of science, French, the language of romance, Spanish, the tongue of our Latin Amer- ican neighbors, or Latin, the solid foundation of many of the world's languages. Invest in a lan- guage and you invest in an exciting and worth- while experience. P- A QC! U ff 3 3 ,- is .22 t i V ,u If l w t 2. f 1 6 r Hu r 1 L K .v If Q 1 4 C 1 rf ful ' I s as XF I y x:.l1, ' .
