HOPKINS Dean of Boys Dean of Girls While it is well to aim high and hitch one's wagon to a star, it is not advis- able to dwell in the clouds of misty conceptions, nor is it profitable to spend one's life seeking the end of the rainbow and the proverbial pot of gold. Never- theless, the lofty ideals are necessary for the type of success that really counts, little or nothing is gained unless our ambitions are directed toward a constel- lation of ideals higher than those which we experience at present. MR. BHCKMQN. South High has always stood for the true democratic ideal. Such an ideal cannot be imposed upon a student body. The individuals living within the school create it out of intangible substance, such as, friendliness, kindliness, fair play, honesty, worthy effort, satisfactory achievement, appreciation of life and its responsibilities, and happiness. This most precious tradition of South High is the end-product of the thinking, feeling, and activity of each and every member, past and present, of the school.
