The new South incorporates the latest in modern school design, fully airconditioned and provides the most up-to-date and advanced facilities available for schools. Among some of the unique features; A greenhouse located on the roof, an underground track, closed circuit television, underground parking, a library with a raised section for studying, modern data processing equipment, faculty and student lounges, and a beautiful auditorium for the performing arts. Indeed, it is a school designed for the best of the present with an eye to the future in mind. 17

This year South celebrated its 75th anniversary by dedicating a new school. We of the '69 Yearbook Staff think it would be a good time to rededicate ourselves to the ideals of our Alma Mater. In 1944, South celebrated its Golden Anniversary with the return of many of its alumni. The school Alma Mater. Sons of South,” was composed by faculty member, Paul A. Barnes, and sung publicly for the first time at the commencement exercises. Sons of South received a United States copyright in March of 1957. As a result of the copyright, all performing rights became the property of the South Nigh Student Council. Paul A Barnes Sons of South Sons of South, proclaim with pride Bight and honor, yet deride Weakness, boasting, selfish greed. Strive for honest thought and deed. Daughters let your voices praise Golden truths and golden days. Courage, skills and arts applied Beauteous school, maternal guide. Sons and daughters, pledge ye bold. South's high scholarship uphold. Service give in South's fair name. Let character thy life proclaim. Sons, should war o'crcloud your way. Stand up straight, the call obey. Honor comes to those who know Duty and strike Freedom’s blow. Maids, should tears bedew your eyes. Brush away. While Glory Hies. Never let a broken heart Cause your valor to depart. Refrain— Paul A.
