SOUTHERN AII net Bernard Bonnie Bluhm Ma'rian Fryzel Judy Houdek Lenore Kolesar When we have graduated we will take f aths to different horizons and new experiences. We will take a large step forward by accepting responsibilities in an adult world. Our Southernaire in years to come will help us remember our high school days. As we turn the pages, smiling and friendly faces will greet us; familiar classroom and corridor scenes will come to life once more in our memories; and, the shouts of encouragement and lively cheering will ring in our ears. SOUTHERNAIRE In appreciation of his fine contribution in the field of education, his friendly guidance, and his constant encouragement to the countless numbers of South High pupils who were privileged to know Pop, we dedicate this edition of the Southernaire. 4 I Uaea - h: dud I ( 'rru ■;CT ALMA MATER Sons of South, proclaim with pride Right and honor, yet deride Weakness, boasting, selfish greed. Sons and daughters pledge yc bold, South's high scholarship uphold. Service give in South's fair name Let character thy life proclaim. PAUL BARNES v 3 The spectacular changes socially and economically confronting our country today necessitates an ever-increasing demand for a high school diploma as a background. The youth of today is better prepared to meet the demands of these ever-changing conditions. He must keep his education abreast of the time after graduation and on until the end of life. Education is a continuously growing process. It includes the valuable experience of investigation for truth, the satisfaction of discovery, and the wisdom which knowledge brings. Wayne G. The team split its next two encounters, losing to defending champion, St. Ignatius, but rebounding to clip John Marshall. IpSHfigs FIGHT FOR THAT REBOUND At mid-term the squad posted a seven won. six lost record. With graduation, the varsity lost the sparkling shooting and playing of Jim Tyminski. This, plus a rash of injuries, was too much for the inexperienced Flyers, who tried gamely but could not fully recover to hit the victory trail again. The regular season ended with a 7-9 record. In tournament play South faced St. Ignatius again only to lose 69-56. The outstanding play of Captain Tom Ksiczyk did not go unnoticed.
