Principal WAYNE G. SMITH The privilege of being an American began on the day of your birth when you were endowed by the Creator with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This birthright involves a duty which every American can and must assume. How can each of you help to perpetuate the American Way of Life? How can you defend the ideals, the government, the institutions, the customs and beliefs that form our national pattern? 1 believe you have the answer when you learn early in life to respect the rights of other persons, to have pride in achievement, to practice team work, not only on the football field but also in your social associations and in your family life. Remember one enjoys national liberty only when he enjoys personal liberty. Respect your individual freedom—never do anything which would deprive you of it. A nation of freedom loving individuals insures the finest type of citizenship on earth—a citizenship which inspires the pursuit of happiness. WAYNE G. SMITH
