ANNUAL COMMITTEE Estelle Golinski Chairman Stanley Kovac Pai-l Musciie Jean Petrowski Leona Coleman Alice NVilgos Olive Kuehl Edna Rosinski Bernard Mlodiciiowski Irene Horvath Stanley Wojciak Advisor, Mr. S. Schipp Senior Farewell Address Ij1 DELATION may he defined as “socially directed growth as a program of j guidance for individuals who live in a changing society.” Clearly the program must include more than the three R’s to accomplish this great purpose. The individual should acquire knowledge and appreciation of the great cultural heritage which has come to him from the past. He must acquire socially constructive habits and attitudes. He should learn how to cooperate with others in group undertakings, lie should learn to read and observe critically and to make the judgments which his own life and welfare demand. It is through this process of study, association, and cooperation with others that he builds his own life and contributes to the ideals of American education. South High School has done much to install these high ideals in the minds of its pupils. To improve social position South High School has given English, science, mathematics, and history courses. To extend culture it has given languages, arts, and music. Extra-curricular activities were offered for those who were interested in developing social and more cultural traits. Cooperation, self-respect, observance, reliability, respect for others and many worth while qualities were developed by these courses. All these have contributed to the ideals of American education. The seniors can repay South High School and serve America by being self-respecting, and self-supporting men and women; and also by trying to overcome some of the social obstructions and some of the modern obstacles. The seniors of the “June 1939“ class extend their thanks and express their appreciation for the knowledge that they have obtained from South High School.
