Regular meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month and special meetings are called whenever necessarv. The Board cstahlishes the salary schedule of teachers and employees. makes rules and regulations governing school functions. and sets the policies in general of all school activities. len

I I BOARD OF EDUCATION During the three years in which Mr. Cordon C. Humbert has been superintendent of schools, the Board of Education has embarked upon a much- needed building program. An attempt was made to begin where the need was greatest. To date, Lincoln School has been completed, South, Central. Carlield, Whittie1', Longfellow, and Roosevelt have been rehabilitated, the new Emerson, Irving, Low- ell, and Washiiigtori-McKinley have been started: and the contract for Horace Malin has been let this spring. A new senior high school is planned as the next step in the program. Improvements have been made in our health pro- gram, sight-saving class, slow-learning class and testing program. Strides have been taken in cre- ating interest on the part of the public in a sound educational program through school-community councils and committees. GORDON G. HUMBERT--BS., MA.
