During the four years in Which Mr. J. McLean Reed has served as Superintendent of Schools in Lima, he has steadfastly pushed forward to gain new goals of achievement for Lima schools. Because of his winning personality and congenial manner, both students and parents sincerely feel that he is their friend. W.C w l A. N C. P. C. H. i A. M l H. G. Upon the Board of Education rests a major part of the responsibility for the competent supervision of our school system in Lima. Some of its principal duties are to prescribe courses of instruction, to select teachers, and to enact legislation pertaining to the health and safety of students. Oflicers of the board are: W. C. Derbyshire, presi- dent: A. M. Gantz, vice-president, C. H. Poole, clerk. These live men hold the distinction and honor of having been members of the Board of Education for at least ten years: and to them goes much of the credit for the present e1T1ciency of the Lima Public Schools. Although not a member of the Board of Educa- tion, Mr. Harry Mason holds the position of Direc- tor of Maintenance. His chief duty is to supervise repair on our schools when it is needed. l Mr. Charles E. Gaskins, Assistant Principal and Dean of Boys, capably assists Mr. Davis in his duties and is a kind, helpful advisor to the boys of our school. As Dean of Girls, Miss Zalia Harbaugh endeavors to assist the girls of our school in the solution of their problems and to aid them in becoming better citizens of South High. A newcomer to South this year is Miss Jeanne Fiedler, who is in charge of the oflice and is personal secretary to Mr. Davis. Assisting with the oiiice Work is Miss Norma Welty, who graduated from South High School with the class of 4O. C. E. Gaskins Zalia Harbaugh Jeanne Fiedler Norma W-elty Through his magnetic personality and true sincerity, Principal Charles E. Davis has made for himself a permanent place in the hearts of all South students. Although he has only been at South High School three years, he has achieved an enviable record of improvement and advancement for our school, and through his industrious efforts, the school has been promoted in all fields.
