Girls State If you can imagine 530 girls, all unique with their own special talents, packed away into one of the most beautiful ski-resorts in the world, you will get a little bit of the feeling of what Girls State is like. It is filled with activities put on by the American Le- gion, where one girl from each High School in the State, is given an opportunity to learn about city, county, and state levels of government in a mock political situation. The learning amounts to only a small part compared with all the emotional feelings shared by all the girls. I will never forget all the wonderful people I was so lucky to meet, all the growing up I did, and the helpful ideas it left me with; knowing there were so many young people who care. Leslie Potts Boys State Boys State was a fantastic experience and a week of fun and frustration. The event started with an attempt to get 430 guys into rooms and working groups, and ended with 930 close friends saying goodbye. Boys State really gave insights into not only how the government works, but also how peo- ple interact with each other. I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a delegate to Boys State, and 1 deeply thank the fine gentlemen of the American Legion. Scott Gordon
