WWMM THE BEE AND CEE Crescent League Champions came back This year to make a powertul Spar- tan track team. Starting oft with an impressive victory over Artesia, the Spartans went on with concisive wins over Long Beach Wilson, Torrance, North l-ligh, Culver City, Beverly Hills and El Segundo. Coming in third at the Mira Costa Relays, the cindermen showed their power with only Mira Costa and Santa Monica beating them. The Spartans again showed they were a championship team when they tied tor titth at the Southern Counties Meet with seventy-one schools participating. Spartan trackrnen, Jim Perry in the mile, Doug Brown in the 440, and John Robinson in the high hurdles all walked away with medals at this meet. New school records were set by Roger Smith lhigh iump and pole vaulti, John Robinson thigh hurdlesl, Steve Vroman llow hurdles and broad iumpl, and Doug Brown in the 440. Fo rthree years the Spartans have had Mr. Scully as their coach, and again his patience and help have paid ott in making a strong team. i .
