The reserve football team worked as hard as our varsity team, but received little recognition. The team had a good year, winning three, tying one, an-d losing two. Posing with their trophies for winning the district, regional, and state tournaments are our 1954 South High B ketballers. They are beaming with special prige at the trophy they won for taking the runners-up position at the state iinals and the WBNS revolving trophy for the district tournament. are-. I' E K Tournament Scenes Excitement reigned at South when our Bulldog basketball team went to the district and state .tourna- ments in Toledo and Cleve- land. Teachers, students, and alumni piled into trains, buses, and cars to cheer for our Bulldog team as they made their way to the state Hnals. 'Pictured are the players on stage receiving a rousing send-off before leaving for the mourn-amenlts. They were soon followed by the students on the buses. The teachers are pictured in the 'lobby of the Carter Hotel where they met after the game. Art the stiadiiun every- one went wild when South shot for two points in the Kent Roosevelt game. The team played their best and Cap-tain Benny Wright re- ceived the trophy that helped bring glory to Old South.

CHEERLEADERS Five varsity cheerleaders are pictured during a happy moment in the Kent Roosevelt game played in the state finals at the Cleveland arena. Seven girls brightened the football and basketball season with their pep and vitality at the games and the pep rallies. Sit- ting on the megaphone in their blue and gray costumes are Sally Miller, Shirley Sherrard, Beverly Danison, Eileen Men- zer, Anne Matthews, Betty Roy, and Ann Chamberlain. Q l Ml TEH I The cheerleaders who cheered at the reserve basketball games, football home- coming game, pep rallies, and will be the official yellers for Hurray for South Highn next season are Marty DeCamin- ada, Marty Greeno, Nancy Johnson, Maud Pennington, Irene Bajus, and Beverly Weakley.
