Posing with their trophies for winning the district, regional, and state tournaments are our 1954 South High B ketballers. They are beaming with special prige at the trophy they won for taking the runners-up position at the state iinals and the WBNS revolving trophy for the district tournament. are-. I' E K Tournament Scenes Excitement reigned at South when our Bulldog basketball team went to the district and state .tourna- ments in Toledo and Cleve- land. Teachers, students, and alumni piled into trains, buses, and cars to cheer for our Bulldog team as they made their way to the state Hnals. 'Pictured are the players on stage receiving a rousing send-off before leaving for the mourn-amenlts. They were soon followed by the students on the buses. The teachers are pictured in the 'lobby of the Carter Hotel where they met after the game. Art the stiadiiun every- one went wild when South shot for two points in the Kent Roosevelt game. The team played their best and Cap-tain Benny Wright re- ceived the trophy that helped bring glory to Old South.

These could very well be the words of Coa-ch Pug Hood, as he will lose five of his top-notch basketball players via gradugtion. These fellows will be sorely missed when the 1954-55 season rolls aroun . Heading the list of seniors is Captain Benny Wright. Benny has been a member of the varsity for three years, and has played on two championship teams during that time. Next is George Langley, who didn't see too much action during the regular season but came along brilliantly in some -of the anxious mom.ents of the Regionals and State Tournament play. Then there's Stanley Owens, the big boy who really hit his stride in the finals of the District and helped the Bulldogs down the home stretch, in quest of the State Title. Quincy Duce Dunn, who didn,t play last year because of an ankle injury, became very strong and proved to be a vital cog in the Bulldog machine. Last, bu-t certainly not the least, is big Frank Chico,' Howard. Chico and Clarence Pointer were the 1-2 scoring punch of the Bulldogs. Big Chic holds the all-time District Class A scoring record. Frank has also been an all-city performer for the past two seasons. George Langley Stan Owens Quincy Dunn Frank Howard
