It is a big job, but it is well done with the supervision of Miss Titus and Mr. Hoover, the Iohn Powers of South High who screens the girls for their jobs. Books . . . Books . . . These girls have a better than average scholastic record, their attendance is regular, and they are rec- ommended by two teachers in order to be able to work in the oflice.

English workbook? Movie ticket? Basketball ticket? Lost a pair of gloves -and can't find them? The book exchange is the place to go. If you have need of any of these services, smiling capable girls such as Sally Miller and Gloria NVolf will be glad to furnish them for you. One of the most popular places in the cafeteria during the lunch periods is the southeast corner where the book exchange is located. GUIDANCE HELPERS Left to right: Ruth Johnson, Pat Lahey, Evelyn Wolpert, Donna Augustine, Wilda Gibbs, Janet Gwynn, Marienne Hammon, Janis Reese, Joy Ryan, Marilyn Kauffman, Sue Haley. The aixdlvisers are Mr. Redman, Miss Crist, and Mr. oer. Going to college? Having a little trou- ble deciding what to take when you get there? Worried about your credits? Take your troubles to Mr. Redman, Miss Crist or Mr. Moler. One of them or all of them will ibe glad to help you out. They delight in -being able to smooth out the Wrinkles in your future, and, at times, the dark past. Of course all of the work couldn't be done without some mighty fine helpers, and those helpers have been found as can be seen in the picture. And who is to distribute all of these books and keep the records straight? No one else but Mr. Helmick and his capable assistants. Their work is more or less seasonal a great rush of work at the beginning and end of each semester and a period of quiet rest in between, however, they are all happl' to be able to be of service. J

we v Wg '.- x Hike' PRINTING STAFF In addition to working hard on the Optic and Lens, the above boys have done everything from printing excuse slips to completing successfully many printing jobs for other schools. Their work also includes printing the programs for all types of occasions around school. ADVERTISING HEADS The girls behind the scenes who are respon- sible for the advertising that helps finance our school paper and yearbook are, left to right: Nancy Akers, Margaret Kornives, Shirley Smith, secretary-treasurer of the group, and June Early. CHEMISTRY ASSISTANTS These lab assistants under Mr. Davis and Mr. Hoover, responsible for keeping South High's chemistry lab in A-I condition are, front to back, around the table, Ierry Hughes, Patti Denney, Stewart Ensign, jim Thompson, Virginia Bates, Lois Bowen, Paula Gatewood, Nancy Thompson, Ann Hughes. Some of their tasks include checking to see doors are always closed, keeping reagent bottles for chem- icals replaced, keeping the lab clean from floor to ceiling and inspecting from time to time to see that each position is kept in order.
