Appreciation of music turns our camera to the South High School Orchestra and the many events around South they help to make a success. Participation in Open House, Dramatics Department plays, Commencements, Baccalaureate Serv- ices, Class Day, Pre-Easter Service, Spring Concert, entries in the District and State Solo and Ensemble Contests keep the variety of music in a steady beat. The acquiring of new choir robes was the highlight for the choir members this year. In 1953 the choir participated in the All-City Choir for the C.O.T.A. Convention at the Coliseum. VVith the same group of mass choirs, they gave an open Christmas Choral Festival at Central High School. Each individual choir sang two solos, and for an impressive close, the mass choirs sang the Hallelujah Chorusf' Both of these performances were conducted by Mr. Keller, music director of Columbus schools. On March 14 the Music Directors Guild of which Miss R. Lippincott, director of our choir, is a mem- ber, presented a religious program at Capital University. Our choir took part in this program. Eugene Barban and Marianne Hammon, members of the choir, have received outstanding marks on performances outside of school.
