This past year, they performed in the Open House on November 3, sang for our assemblies for Armistice Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Memorial Day. They also assisted at both the January and June Baccalaureate Services, the annual Christmas Choral Festival at Central High, the Sesquicentennial Celebration in April, and many other programs at South and elsewhere. BAND Southls grand marching band performed well this ,52-'53 season at the football games and in special school activities. The Band has ninety members. In lanuary Glenn Harriman was replaced as conductor by Randal W. Near, former instructor who had been serving in the United States Navy. During Mr. Nearis absence from South High while he was in the Service, the instrumental department was headed by Glenn Harriman who is now at Franklin lr. High.
