VARSITY FOCTBALL When the season opened the Bains weren't favored to go very far in the conference race. The team had very few veteran lettermen back from the previous season. As the season progressed the Rams pulled one upset after another by defeating Buchanan, Niles, Allegan, Three Rivers and Kalamazoo State High on successive Fridays, These wins made the Rams one of the most feared teams in the State as they entered the conference championship game with our rival, St. loseph. St. foe defeated us to take the championship and gave us our only defeat as we went on to Win over Dowagiac in the final game, We placed second in the Big Capt. Bob Hamlin, George Westerfield and Bob Pobuda Won all-conference and honorable men- tion all-state honors. Seniors lost to the squad are: Capt. Bob Hamlin, Roger Ryan, Ken Struble, Bob Porter, Othal Shep- ard, Don Freeman, Bob Pobuda, Marty Strebeck, lim Bigoness, George Westerfield, Charles lensen, lim Carroll, lack Harrington, Paul Hodges, Bob Keithly, and Bob Patterson. Seven Conference. Lettermen returning are Captfelect lack Nixon Don Brinks, Art Pratt, Charles Boland, Tom Baer Bob Ditch, and lack Gillett. Other members who will make promising ma- terial for next year's team are: Howie Filbrandt Charles Satkey, Don Allen, Tack Seiler, lim Henry Alvin Gumpert, and Al Dubuisson.
