Some thirteen years ago a frightened group of five- year-olds gathered in the kindergarten of the South Haven Public Schools for their first taste of learning. They built sand castles and houses of blocks. They sang Mary Had a Little Lamb and Did You Ever See a Lassie . Now, part of that same group is about to gather, still frightened a little, upon the graduation platform, to re- ceive diplomas which wili mark them as graduates of South Haven High School. This time they build dream castles of peace, and prepare to establish real Ameri- can homes. This time they sing I'm Making Believe, I'll Be Seeing You, and The Day After Forever . This time many of them know in their hearts that they may never see all the members of 45 again, for they must leave immediately and enter the service of their country, They go proudlyg their cause is just. This time, we who remain can only recall the care- free, boyish faces of those who have already left our ranks to serve their colors, and pray that God will see them through to a time when this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. This time, history has repeated itself: and we go forth, as did our fathers, into a troubled world. The times demand strong minds, great hearts, true faith, and will- ing hand.
