I Class s Though the years have changed our tunes from Are you Sleeping and Billy Boy , to The Trolley Song and What do You Known: we are still singing, Most any time and anywhere lexcept of course when teacher is speakinql You will find Mary Iones and Iohnny Smith with a song on their lips. The tunes and lyrics may vary from the strictly classical, which issues from the vocal music room when Miss Bird's songsters are practicing, to the questionably musical dittys which drift from the boy's locker roomy but the fact remains that young America is still singing. The war, though it has affected us in many ways, has not stilled the music in our hearts. On the following pages we present to you the merry Music Makers whose contributions to school and class activities, have put S. H. H. They built sand castles and houses of blocks. They sang Mary Had a Little Lamb and Did You Ever See a Lassie . Now, part of that same group is about to gather, still frightened a little, upon the graduation platform, to re- ceive diplomas which wili mark them as graduates of South Haven High School. This time they build dream castles of peace, and prepare to establish real Ameri- can homes. This time they sing I'm Making Believe, I'll Be Seeing You, and The Day After Forever . This time many of them know in their hearts that they may never see all the members of 45 again, for they must leave immediately and enter the service of their country, They go proudlyg their cause is just. This time, we who remain can only recall the care- free, boyish faces of those who have already left our ranks to serve their colors, and pray that God will see them through to a time when this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. This time, history has repeated itself: and we go forth, as did our fathers, into a troubled world. The times demand strong minds, great hearts, true faith, and will- ing hand. These are great things! Let not our courage fail!! 66 ' Into tht Wide S ng 111 1 111 W QQ1 1 1 1 D 11 1111vw 1 1 O 111 111 Q111111 9fCII e 0111 QW11 Many 111119 W1 do x 111 132- C0116 13 1 U C1 1 11x1111 1 11k ' 11 1 1 P 1 111,11 161 115 1 Cl Q1 N 1NC,1l11C 1 11111 111116 1V111s1e1 5 Q W11111 11 IV 11111 11 C11 1 111 A 111 111 w 11 LMT 16' 1 J ve QI 1 11 If x ICGQ HO 51111 111111 C 111 0 1 Q11 wee 111-SSG 119111311 111 101198 xm 111 Q99 IP 5171001 1101150 11 v 1112 we 111 1y day 11111111 111 101114 1 cw 1 3 1 fl IQ 1 1,11 11 311 IC' C011 11y wc ov 13 113111 11 NUT 1 11 1110 11 V11 Q11 II 1 1 DI 11 I1 1, 1 11111 1111 101 11 111111 1 1 T9 1 C1 1 11 Q111 1 W1 1 1191, 111111 P013 Jy lllas oe m 1 ' 1 .1-11 1111-11115111151 111116 i'1111,:1, 11 1' 151.11 I1JCII111CIi' 1 ' 3 Le1's111111,,:1. You find each guy and gal engaged in a favorite pasttime, be it clicking the shutter of a camera or executing a tricky run in an orchestra selection. Or you might find some earnest jun- iors whiling away their hours after school working and planning for the prom. Those literarily inclined find the Critic is their niche while the Sinatra's and their feminine counter- parts will be found exercising their vocal chords in Miss Bird's sanctuary. Whatever the interest, S. H. H. S. usually has the answer and on the following pages we have some 're- corded' shots of these extra-curricular functions. x I !
