GUY WENBAN VVhen this annual goes to press, Guy is con- valescing in New Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, atter an appendicitis operation. We hope he will be back with us soon. His most active interest in high school has been in the agricultural held. He has been a member of the Future Farmers of America. Like his father his main interest is in power machinery, especially threshing machines, and automobiles. DALE WEPFER Following in his brother Bill's footsteps, Dale played half-back on the football team, '35, '36, ,37. He also played basketball, '35, 36 and intramural basketball, '37. As a junior he served as vice president of the junior class. As a junior he was a member of the Vocational Club and as a senior ot the Auto Club. His pal is Paul f VVink J VVinkel. RONALD WILKINSON Playing leads in the operettas, The Mikado, '36 and joan of the Nancy Lee, '37, Ronald has proved his vocal talent. He has also taken part in the glee club, '35, '36, '37 and mixed chorus, '35, '36, '37. He served on the Student Council, '35, He was a member of the Future Farmers of America, '35, '36 and ot the Travel Club, '36. Hobby- writing comical poems. Plans to work with a truck' ing hrtn between Grand Rapids and Florida. HENRY WILLIAMS While attending South Haven High School, Henry has played flute in the band and orchestra. He be- longed to the Vocational Club as a junior and to the Current Events Club as a senior. He has been one of Coach Grein's most valuable tennis players during his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Long suit-debate in economics or government class with Mr. Grein. DUANE WILLIS VVhen Duarte receives' his diploma in june, the music department will lose one of its most competent members. He has played saxophone in the band. '35, '36, '37g orchestra, '35, 365 pit orchestra, '35, '36, '37, and sax quartet, Y37- He has also been in the glee club, mixed chorus, and the operettas, H. M. S. Pinaiore, '35 and The Mikado, '36, Likes wood working and drawing. Plans to study commercial art. -20 PAUL WINKEL Paul has played hall'-back on the football team, '34, '35, '36 and guard on the basketball team, '35. '36, YS7. As a sophomore he was treasurer of his class. ln '35 he played trumpet in the band. As a junior he was a member ot the Vocational Club. Most easily recognized by two outstanding things -his bashlulness and his stooge hair cut. His inseparable pal is Dale VVepter, and his hobbies, hunting and fishing. HAROLD FRENCH Harold, like his brother, Fred, declares himself an ardent goli' fan, and we are told that there is heated rivalry between these two brothers. Harold spends most ot his time working at the South Haven Kountry Club in the summer. As a sophomore and as a junior he played on the football and basketball teams and in the latter year on the golf team. ln '36 he belonged to the Chemistry Club and in '37 to the Senior Dramatic Club. JOHN HOLU BAR johnny played on the football team, '35, '36g basketball, '35, 36, '37g and on the track team, '35, '36, '37. Ile keeps in training by delivering meat tor Nittenegger Brothers Meat Market in the sum- mer and on Saturdays. He played clarinet in the band, '35, '36. Ht- joined the Vocational Club as a junior and the Auto Club as a senior. Favorite pastetime--driving. VVould like to travel when he has finished high school. GAYLE SWEET A member of the glee club and the mixed chorus, '36, Gayle became a merry chorister in The Mik- ado. As a junior she belonged to the Travel Club and as a senior to the Home Economics Club. Her inseparable pal is Helen t Lu j Kero. Her nick- name is Em. Her hobbies-music and. skating. She plans to take a course at VVestern State Teach- ers' College next year. LOUIS WARSKO As a sophomore Louis was a member of the glee club and mixed chorus and took part in the operetta, H. M. S. Pinatoref' He has also belonged to the Future Farmers ot America, '35, '36, '37, His hob- bies are swimming, mechanics, and driving a ear. Answers to Shorty, Louie, Stub, or Slim. LUCILLE SUMMERER Lucille has assisted Miss Hawley in the library during her junior and senior years. As a junior she was a member of the Library Club and as a senior, of the Story Club. She also played basket- ball as a sophomore and participated in the gym exhibitions, '35, '36, '37. Her nickname is I.ucy. Favorite ast-times-movies and reading fiction. Best pal-Editli f Pete l Peterson. GERALD SYMMONDS Gerald's slow drawl and his easy going disposi- tion have made him ideal for the part of Sid Sperry which he plays ill the senior play, New Fires. He has been a member of the Chemistry Club as a junior and of the Senior Dramatic Club as a senior. He played center and guard on the toot- ball team during his junior and senior years. Known to all his friends as Simp. DAN SZARKOWSKI l3an's two most notable traits, his clever excuses and his close resemblance to joe E. Brown, will be among his classmates everlasting memories of high school. ln '35 he was president of the sophomore class. As a junior he was a member of the Voca- tional Club and as a senior of the Auto Club. He played on the basketball team and the baseball team, '36, '37. Great enjoyments---httnting and hshing. CHARLES TAIT VVith his athletic and scholastic ability Streaky has definitely stamped his name u on the records ot South Haven High School. ARLEEN TESKE South Haven High School seems to hold a definite lure for many of the senior class. Like a number of' others, Arleen is planning to take a post-graduate course next year. She has been one of Miss Hawley's assistants in the library both in her junior and her senior years. She has also been a member of the Library Club, '36, '37. Gym exhibition, '35, '36, '37. Favorite pal-Margaret Robinson. SARAH TlGGLEMAN Vl'hile attending South Haven High School, Sarah has been a member of the glee club, '35, mixed chorus, '35, and has participated in the operetta, H.
