MARSHALL BODFISH As a sophomore Marshall belonged to the Debate Club and as a senior to the Auto Club. He has also been a member of the Future Farmers ot America, '35, '36, '37. Ile played on the tootball team, '34, '35. As a junior he served on the Stu- dent Council. As a senior he has served as class president. Hobbies-hunting and fishing. FRANKLIN ELY Franklin played football, '34, baseball, 34, and ran the quarter mile on the track team, '34. He was manager of the baseball team, '36 and took art in the giym exhibition, '35, '36. He was presidient of the- uture Farmers ot America, '36 and general chairman of the rural agricultural show, '36, Is yice-president ot the class of '37. Known to his friends ns Pete. HELEN KERO In addition to serving as senior-class secretary, '37, Helen has assisted in the library, '35, in the office, '37, and as a substitute teacher in the fourth grade, ,37. She has belonged to the Debate Club, '35, Com- mercial Club, '36, Home Economics Club, '37, and Usher Club, '36, '37. She also served on the Student Cogncil, '37. Hobby-collecting and mounting but- ter ies. VIVIAN FOWLER Viv has belonged to the glee club, mixed chorus, and was in the operetta, The Mikado, in her junior year. She was also a member of the Junior-Senior Night Club. In '37 she was assistant librarian and belonged to the Library Club. She also helped with the rural agriculture show, '36 and '37. Favorite pastimes-dancing, swimming, roller-skating, cooking, collecting pictures, and reading. -12-

MICHAEL R. LISTIAK The teacher of Instrumental Music and the director of Band and Orchestra in our school is Michael R. Listiak from Minneapolis, Minnesota. lt was there that he attended the University of Minne- sota and received his Bachelor ot Science degree. Later he at- tended summer school at the Eastman School ot Music in Rochester, New York. Mr. I.istiak's chiet interest is in arranging music. W. L. MAULSBY 'l'he Mathematics and Penmansliip teacher in junior High is Mr. Maulshy formerly ot Marshalltown, iowa. He has attended Iowa State Teachers' College, the University ot Minnesota, and Cornell University where he obtained a Bachelor ot Science de- gree. Things in nature chiefly interest him. L. C. MOHR The Superintendent ot South Haven Public Schools is Mr. L. C. Mohr. He has studied at Adrian College, Columbia University, and at the University ot Michigan. He earned his Bachelor ok Science degree at Adrian, and n Master ot Arts at Columbia. Blissheld, Michigan was his home town. Travel is his chief interest. MARGARET MU RPHY Margaret Murphy, Homemaking instructor in junior and Senior High, attended Purdue University where she received her Bachelor ot Science degree in Home Economics. Her home town is South Bend, Indiana. Being called Maggie or teacher she dislikes most. journalism, reading, and ull home-making activities are her hobbies. LOUISE PORTER Louise Porter, from Adrian, Michigan, teaches Algebra, Latin, and Arithmetic in junior High School. She earned both her Bache- lor of Arts and Master ot Arts degrees from the University oi Michigan: Miss P er also attended Mount Holvoke kCollege. She received her Bachelor ot Arts degree from VVestern State Teachers' College. Persistent talkers during assembly programs are her pet peeves. She derives a good deal ot enjoyment out of the Palmer House Ensemble and from current topics. WILAM.ENA SCHNOOBERGER The teacher ot Chemistry, Biology, and English in South Haven High School is Wilatnena Schnooherger. She attended Hope College and the University of Michigan and received her Bachelor ot Arts and Master of Science degrees from these schools, respectively. Miss Schnuoberger is a resident ot South Haven. Her hobby is music. ALTA STA U FFER Speech, English, and Dramatics are taught in Senior High School by Alta Stanlter from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Miss Stautter at- tended Central State Teachers' College at Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where she earned a Bachelor of Education degree, and the Uni- versity ot VVisconsin. Swimming, ice-skating, tennis, and sports in general comprise her hohhies, while people without a sense of humor are her pet pee-ve. ALONZO WIERENGA Fulton, Illinois was the home town of the instructor in Physics, Plane Geometry, Trigonometry, and Solid Geometry, Mr. VVierenga. ,He is an alumnus ot Hope College where he received a Bachelor ot Arts degree and ot the University of Michigan from which he obtained a Master oi Arts degree. His special interests are water purification and amateur radio. People who don't keep their dogs tied when necessary is one oi his several pet peeves. NEVA WILSON Neva VVilson cutiies from South Haven, having graduated irom South Hayen High School. She is a secretary in the main office. Her hobbies are sewing and travel. oxL -11- Cl. This year she played Edith in the play, An.ithcr Beginning, presented at Bangor in january. As a sophomore she participated in the declamation contest. lier favorite amusements are reading and seeing movies. She plans to attend beauty culture school next year. ARTHUR ANDREWS Art is very much interested in chemistry, par- ticularly photography. Ile spends much of his time working in the school chemistry lab and in his back shed which he has htted tip lor his own personal lab, As a junior he was a member ol the Chemistry Club and prepared an interesting project on panit pigments for the May exhibit. Ilis other activities include glee club, mixed chorus, and the operetta, joan of the Nancy Lee, '37. ELMER AULIE Political science is Elmer's favorite subject. lie is particularly fond ot debating with Mr. Cirein in economics or government class. Ile also has been substitute teacher tor Mr. Grein's classes. During National Education VV:-ek be was one of the students Irom thc speech classes who spoke at the various pa- triotic organizations in the city. Ile has plaved trumpet in the band, '35, '36, '37, ' 'OPAL AUSTIN Upal's accurate basket shooting, especially in free shots, has proved to be a definite asset to the senior girls' basketball team this year. As a sophomore and as a junior she played clarinet in the band. She he- longed to the junior-Senior Night Club, '36. She took part in the gym exhibition, '35, '36, '37. Spends her leisure time either roller skating, dancing, or playing baseball. ELEANOR BAILEY Eleanor has been a member nt the glee club, '35, '36, mixed chorus, '35, '36g and has participated in the operettas, II. M. S. l inatore, '35 and The Mikado, '36. She has also belonged to the Home Economics Club during her junior and senior years. She has taken part in the gym exhibitions, '35, '36, '37. Nicknamt+ Diz. llobbies-dancing, roller skating, and horseback riding. ERNEST BALASICK Ernest declares that the two most interesting recrea- tional pursuits are swimming and ping pong. GORDON BARNES During Gurdon's years in high school he has spent much ot his time printing signs tor school dances, football games, and other school activities. HAROLD BEHRMAN IIarold's good natnred and easy going disposition may be clearly seen when he declares that after he graduates he'll work until he makes about tive mil- lion dollars and then retire. Next year she plans to attend Michigan State Coliege where she will take a course in that held. LORETTA BROOKS Loretta has belonged to the glee club, '35, '36, '37: mixed chorus, '35, '36, '3Zg and has taken part in the operettas, II. M. S. Pinafore, '35, The Mikado, '36, and joan oi the Nancy I.ee, '37. As a sophomore she played hockey and basketball and as a junior she played on the soccer team.
