Hlstory of the Class of 1960 The Class of 1960 began nts Freshman Year ln September of 1956 under the experienced guldance of M1ss Berenrce Dav1s advlsor and Mr John Youker asslstant advlsor We elected Thomas Cleland as presrdent Donald Drxon vrce prestdent Donna De Garmo secretary and Clanre Washburn treasurer Red and whlte were selected as our class colors Our chief fund ralsrng event that year was a profltable candy sale We entered our Sophomore Year w1th increased confldence Scott Gray was chosen presl dent Thomas Cleland v1ce presldent Bonme Smxth secretary Donna De Garmo treasurer Representmg us on the Student Councll were Scott Gray Porter Reed Donald Flewellmg and Bonme Smrth Durmg the year we had a Sophomore Swmg and another candy sale In 1958 we returned to South Hlgh real1z1ng that some of our most lmportant class actlvltles lay ahead To lead us ln our Junlor Year we chose Scott Gray as presldent Margaret OISIHI v1ce presldent Audrey Corlew secretary and Donna De Garmo Treasurer Our Student Councll representatlves were Thomas Cleland Donald Flewellmg and Lmda Whyland We selected Moments to Remember as theme for our Jumor Prom and chose Margaret Orsmx to rexgn as queen Four members of our class were tapped for the Natlonal Honor Soclety They rncluded Margaret OFSIHI John Myers Stephen Ostrander and Porter Reed We shared honors w1th the class of 1959 ln the Junlor Semor Play Father Knows Best dlrected by Mr Sparllng and Mr James A magazme sale and candy sale helped to mcrease the SIZC of our bank account We returned 1n September 1959 for our fmal year at our South Hlgh Alma Mater and selected Porter Reed as presldent Wllham Garl1tz v1ce president Sandra Post secretary and Thomas Cleland became the Student COUHCIIS new president and our representatlves were Rlchard Brown Jean Drxon and Scott Gray Productlon of the l96O Arrowhead was begun almost rmmedlately Wlth Eleanor Poucher and John Myers as co edltors A candy sale was agaln held Our hlgh school years were not wlthout sadness Two members of our class Donald Collins and Ronald Vlger were after a perlod of t1me w1th us ln memory only Caps and gowns were ordered Each day brought us closer to 1nv1tat1ons graduatlon and celebratnon Soon we were to go our 1nd1v1dual ways storlng 1n our memorles the knowledge skrlls and happiness we had found at South Hlgh ml' nimx 'NW 'Y 51-af -sf cnt O . . . , . , i , . , . . . 9 D , 9 , n 5 Q , ' ' gt ' ' , s , I - l 7 9 I . . , . 9 . ., u 4 , 9 , . , .
