Third Row: Dave Langdon, Bob Canales, Alfred Dashnaw, Larry Wood, jim Prendergast, Steve Ostrander, Bill Garlitz, Lou LaValley. Track and Field 1959 Coach Ron Lennox's Bulldogs finished their 1959 track season in fine style as they captured the Class C Section Two Championship at Union College, scoring ZSM, points. The beginning of this march toward sectional championship started with a 51-46-31 victory over Fort Edward and St. Mary's. Dick Kobor, South High's top cinderman, led the team to victory with wins in the 220 and 180 low hurdles. Other wins in this meet were posted by Jim Bolio in the 880, Jim Gormely in the mile, and Jim Prendergast in the shot put. The Bulldogs' relay team, composed of Dick Kobor, Bob Canales, Jim Prendergast, and Gladwin Jackson set a new school record of 1:37. In our second meet against Hudson Falls, Jim Gormely set a new record in winning the mile in 4:43.4. In the Glens Falls Invitational meet, with the aid of first places taken by our relay team, the Bulldogs took third place. Jim Prendergast set a new school record in the shot put with a toss of 49'7 . The relay team also obtained honors by winning the 880-yard relay trophy in l:37.7. On May 30, 1959, at the meet at Union College, South Hi'gh's . track squad received a well-earned victory. In securing this win, the Bulldogs took two first places, four second places, and two ties for third. At the end of this eventful day, Jim Gormely and Dick Kobor accepted the Sectional trophy in Coach Lennox's name. With their fine performances in individual events, Dick Kobor and Jim Prender- 5' '3 i. gast were given an opportunity to -3 if Section II - Class C Champions
