Junior Varsity Football Led by coaches John Youker and Alex Vishneowski,- the Jayvee team had a one-and-three record, winning over Corinth C14-09, while losing to Glens Falls C38-OJ, St. Mary's Q12-65, and Hudson Falls 114-73. Carrying the pigskin for the Little Bulldogs were Mike Capone, Bill Alden, Mike Wood, Vincent Sporrer and Preston Jenkins in the backfield. Leading the attack on the line were Mike Larrow, Bruce Bidwell, Jerry Balcom, Bill Mull, Mike Lyons, David O'Connell. John Trombley, Gary Glidden, Joe Paris, Dick Lawrence, Joe Smith and Hudson Armstrong. The coaches had a major rebuilding job this year and will have the same next year because of the moving up of key players to the Varsitv. VARSITY BASKETB LL In its sixth season in the Northern Conference, Coach Ron Lennox's court squad got off to a slow start, due to lack of experience, and finished the season in sixth place, with five wins and nine losses. Only four veterans remained from last year's squad, and the early part of the season was devoted to finding the proper combination of players. As a result, South High lost its first five Conference games, winning only from Whitehall in the first half of the Conference sched- ule. On the backstretch, however, the Bulldogs won four of seven games, defeating Sectional contenders Granville Q88-505 and Fort Edward C63-595 in the process. foul shooting average. in the return match. Wayne Jones, with a 16-point average in Conference play led the Red and Blue offense with 260 points and was outstanding clearing the offensive rebounds. Henry Dwyer and Lou Luciano had 195 and 189 points, respectively. Big Jim Prendergast, master of the defensive backboard, almost doubled his output of the previous season scoring 154 points. Playmaker Pete Wood had more than 35176 of the entire team's assists, to lead in that department, while personally bucketing 134 points.
