During the l958 campaign, Jim Pren- J, dergast captured the shot record with a l toss of 45' lO , and Dick Kobor lowered l his marks in the hurdles to 20.7 seconds, and in the 220-yard dash to 23 seconds flat. Ron Meoseck also took individual scoring honors for the year. He scored 48 points in six main track meets, for an average of 8 points per meet. i Without the aid of the injured Meoseck, i the Bulldogs travelled to Johnstown on June J 7th to compete in the class B Sectionals. J Here, the team produced 8 points. Captain Jim Bolio and Jim Prendergast took fourth places in their specialties, while Jim Garme- ly and Dick Kobor finished second in their events. Kobor's third best time of the day in the l8O-yard low hurdles earned him a bid to the State Track Meet Championships at West Point on June l4th. For the 1959 Track Season, Coach Lennox had a nucleus of a dozen seasoned veterans to help carry the cindermen to a successful schedule. l958 Captain Jim Bolio returned, along with Jim Gormely, Bob Canales, Dick Kobor, Jim Prendergast, Gladwin Jackson, Eric Jensen, Ray Albert, Dick Clark, Tom Cle- land and Dieter Eveleth. Although Ron Meoseck was sorely missed due to his tour of duty in the United States Army, the Bulldogs of South High, bolstered by their new mascot, did their ut- most to overcome this deficit. . . .
