South High finished its fifth season in fifth place in the Northern Conference, ith six wins and eight losses. After winning the first game against Fort Edward, the ulldogs lost the next five in a row, but came back in the last game of the first half to eat Whitehall. ln the second half, the boys played very nice ball to win four out of seven. hey finished the season ahead of Granville, Fort Edward and Whitehall. The team contained two of the league's top scorers in Chuck Graves and Jerry lwyer, who scored 262 and 221 points respectively. Graves was also the possessor of the aam's best foul-shooting average, scoring on two out of every 1ree shots. Jerry Dwyer cleaned the boards to become top ebounder, with the able assistance of Dick Clark. Improving lreatly through the season, Gladwin Jackson and Ed Curtis , ook over the backcourt and did an exceptionally good job 1. g, If defense. Jim Gormely performed outstandingly in the ' J . Vhitehall game. Piling up 873 points for the season, for a il .35-point average an outing, the Bulldogs made impressive . .. ., . g howings during the latter half of the season. The Varsity --Q i l Q1 Bulldogs averaged 56 per cent in their foul shooting. D Coach Ron Lennox will lose six seniors from this year's eam: Chuck Graves, Jerry Dwyer, Dick Clark, Ed Curtis, lim Gormely and Glad Jackson, who is a junior but has con- J :luded his eligibility in sports this year.
