the 1958-59 sports scene . . . From Spring of i958 to the Winter of l959, South High's teams did exceptionally well. While posting a better than .500 record, and showing a great deal of spirit, the South High boys displayed good sportsmanship throughout the year. The conditioning of the Bulldogs, on the whole, was good. The batsmen, cinder- men, and gridders were of the best conditioned teams in the league. While this showed up in the two spring sports it seemed to have little effect on the fall season's team. Moving on to the Winter, South High came up with a championship wrestling team and although it started out slowly, a basketball team with a good record. Outstanding men from this year's graduating class were Larry Hawkins ffootball, wrestling, baseballl, Dick Clark Cfootball, basketball, trackl, Dick Reynolds ffootball, base- balll, Chuck Graves, a standout in basketball, Jim Gormely, ffootball, basketball, trackl, Bob La Rock ffootball, wrestling, baseballl, Dick Kobor Cfootball, trackJ, and Jim Bolio, an asset to the track team. Glad Jackson, who has completed his athletic eligibility, was also vital to the track, football, and basketball squads. Those juniors who have looked exceptionally well this year are Jim Prendergast, Bob Canales, Porter Reed, Tom Wood, Scott Gray, Bob Leombruno, Tom Cleland, Don Flewelling and Ron Jarvis. The school is grateful for the accomplishments this year and looks forward to even greater laurels from next year's teams. south glens falls athletic ass'n Almost two hundred men belong to the SGFAA, an organization dedicated to the young people of the community.
