There were only five returning veterans at the beginning of the season, and Coach Sutliff had a hard time choosing the remaining ten players. 1955 1956 SCHEDULE 5818 60 29 63 67 69 55 53 56 49 40 59-64 We hey We They Schuylervillef Greenwich? 'Sl 4. dl' E! 5- . . N lk gaqfy. G Front row, left to right: Jack I-Ielwig, Dave Allen, Dick Potter, Fred Bullivant, Pat Russo, Bob Farry, Don Bovair. Seated: jack Butler, Bill Opalski, Dick Bodette, Al Winslow, Dick Sweet, Don Allen, Ray Prouty. Standing: Mgr. Ron Rudio, Mgr. Ed Greenwood, Culver johnson, john Ostresh, Bob Ross, Dick Kenneally, Steve Dickinson, Al Trulli, Steve Blakeslee, Coach Gray. llllwilll H55 With only five seasoned veterans returning for the 1955 baseball season at South High, Coach Gray had to pick five replacements who would help carry the burden for the Bulldogs. Faced with the problem of entering the Northern Conference, Coach Gray picked Pat Russo to fill the hole at first base, Dave Allen behind the plate, and jack Butler and Dick Bodette, to chase flies. Rounding out the first nine were veterans Don Allen, Dick Potter, Al Winslow, Bob Farry, and Fred Bullivant. With this being South High's first year in the Northern Conference, the Bulldogs had a hard time keeping up with the fast brand of ball, but showing up better in the second half of the season, South High established themselves as a team to watch. About all we can say now is what was the main slogan at the Sports Banquet last year, XVAIT TILL NEXT YEAR.
