It seems that Peg wanted to marry a sailor. But the sailor did not want to leave the Navy, so Peg joined the Waves. Peggv says if you can't lick 'em, join 'em. Caroline Ball and Phyllis Chapman are running a nursing home with Gary Quinn as host. Phyllis says that Gary is an immense success. He just has a way with the older ladies. While everyone else is economically bound to life's infinite cycle, Paul Hubinsky has retreated to his habitat in the Alps. Paul is content just to ski through his beloved mountains and draw pictures for the kids. jerry looked up as the front door opened. There stood Lee Ostrander, an English Professor at Hamilton, in an outfit unsuitable for his place of dignity. Lee was wearing a pair of red and blue Bermuda shorts with red knee socks and black and white shoes-the popular fad of the day. Lee's easy-going grin disappeared as he remembered he had forgotten to change into a suit for the formal occasion. He almost knocked over giggling Doris Hamilton in his scramble to back out of the room. Doris, who has made her million on the stock market, tried to calm down Bill jones who was outraged at Lee. What does he mean running around in inferior Bermuda shorts like those? screamed Bill, who is owner of jones Men's XVear Manufacturing Company. They weren't even color-fast , pointed out Carol Tibbits, saleslady for the company. Frank Murray, who is an engineer for the D. and H. Railroad, trotted after Lee with a pair of trousers for him. jerry raised his hand for silence and proceeded with his reading. Phyllis Simonetta has bagged another polar bear to add to her big game collection. This raises her total to six bears, four tigers, seven antelope, two elephants and four husbands. Bill Hayes has his own model agency in the fashion capital of the world, Paris. As a starter, Bill hired Lois Washburn and Judy Stanton as models. But alas, the girls soon discovered that they had eaten too many sweets at Squire's and had to whittle down if they were going to fit into the French fashions. Bill is having trouble, as Russ Chase, who is a salesman for Venus Telescope Company, has rented a room directly across from the models' dressing room. A few years ago Mary Robinson, Faith Ball, Louise Caputo, Arleen Ernst and Audrey Woodcock went down to South America determined to civilize the savage Auca Tribe. A week ago I flew down to invite them to our reunion. I was surprised to find our once quiet Audrey with a native sarong and a necklace of panther teeth. She told me that she would like to go to our reunion but had found the life of the jungle very much to her liking and did not want to go back to civilization. Russ Chase isn't the only one having a good time in Paris. Bob Rhodes is a personnel worker in the American Embassy there. While others have advanced, Bob is content to stay where he is-Bob just loves to get personal with the personnel. Warren Mayott and Bill Opalski are both science teachers at South High. Warren, the physics teacher, may be seen constructing pulleys in different series and Bill serves as chem teacher, track and J. V. basketball coach. Hmm, sounds familiar Well, that s it.Except for one thing. If you'll turn on the TV again we can catch the fights, tonight's battle will feature Pat Battler Breen and Mary Lou Andrews against the fighting Swears twins, joan and Mary, in a 60 minute tag team match. The referee will bejack Helwig. A After the fights were over, Edmund introduced the entertainment for the night, Hotlips Dick Nicholson and his orchestra. While Dick was wailing out a tune on his trombone, Carmen Dwyer, now Mrs. jack Butler, called from the kitchen, Soup's on, everybody sit down. Bob Rhodes lllil Ullll HHH liSlHHllHl We, the Senior Class of South Glens Falls Central School in the Village of South Glens Falls, County of Sara- toga and State of New York do hereby make, publish and declare this to be our LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT. We leave to the coaches our best wishes and heartiest congratulations for the outstanding job, and direct that their share of our estate shall be one bottle of aspirin. To Mr. Howe, we leave two weeks, three days, six hours, twenty-four minutes, and twelve seconds-the accumu- lation of our lost noon hours. To Mrs. Brown, we bequeath a fresh supply of absence slips, so that we may leave, secure in the knowledge that this will be the last long absence. To Mr. Sanford, we do desire that you should have from our vast estate a dowsing rod to supplement your pro- file tests in finding out how good we are. To the Cafeteria Cooks, we bequeath Eighty.Dainty Dishesn or many ways to spoil the hash. To Mr. Ricci, the Senior Class leaves their photogenic personalities with the fond hope that he can find others on whom they will look as well as they did on us. To the custodians, we leave with the thought that they will have an easier job in the future if all the remain- ing students are as neat as we were. To the Junior Arrowhead Staff, we formally notify you of the necessity of early reservation of the Board Room for your Literary Creation, or something of that nature. To the junior Class, we leave: the traditions, the honors, the monumental reputation we have so gloriously cre- ated-knowihg you are worthy of them. To the Sophomores, we leave the hallways to carry on with their love affairs, squables, spit-ball fights, book droppings, and good deeds. The whole Senior Class leaves to the Freshmen three years in which to become frustrated, one sided, conceited, corrupt, delinquent, partial, and eccentric. To those eighth graders, who will soon become high school students, the Seniors leave their ability to convince a certain teacher that dogs are better than cats. To the boys of the seventh grade, the boys of the Senior Class leave their charm, looks, ability to get along with the opposite sex. To our Class Advisors, Mrs. Vaughn, and Mr. Rose, we the Senior Class, lump in throatg hat in hand, do say with our expiring breath, God Bless you and keep you as we treasure your memory in our hearts. SlUIlfHl Elllllltll The purpose of the Student Councilis to create a closer relationship between the students and faculty, to give stu- dents practical experience in student government, to finance student body activities, and to promote the general wel- fare of the school and its surroundings. This year the Student Council, in the achievement of its goal, purchased two large flags for use in the audito- rium and gymnasium, and records each month for the school jukebox. Two vigorous campaigns were carried on, a fund-raising drive for the restoration of Old Sturbridge Village and a clean-up campaign for the school. The expression of American democratic principals is highly exemplified through the election of Student Council officers. Last fall, in a hard-fought campaign by our three political parties, X, Y, Z, George Hoffis was elected presi- dent, Lynda Sherman, vice-president, Conrad Sharrow, secretary, and Mary Louise Ireland, treasurer. The Bulldogs ended league play with a 6 and 6 record and an overall mark of 11-7. The Bulldogs opened the season with two non-league victories over Greenwich and Schuylerville, but they found it rough in the opening league game dropping it by a 55 to 39 verdict to Glens Falls. The following week the Red and Blue found themselves, and won a close one from Gran- ville 55 to 50. The Bulldogs went on from here winning their next four straight ball games. Two of these victories were in the newly formed Christmas Tournament by downing Argyle 53 to 47 and de- feating Queensbury in the finals 54 to 38. The Bulldogs then lost a close non-league to Corinth 61 to 60. The following week they found themselves in the win column, trouncing Fort lidward 85 to 641 and a 71 to 59 vittory over the Kerry Blues of St. Marys. The Bulldogs closed the season of regular play by dropping a game to the Champs, Hudson Falls, S4 to 72. This loss then called for a playoff the following ext-ning on the Hudson Falls court. This game was to be between the Bulldogs and Wfhitehall to see who was to rep- resent the Northern Conference in the Section II playoffs .The Red and Blue came through with flying colors de- feating the Maroon and Wliite 71 to 52. South High was paced this year by the high scoring of Dale jones and Dick Potter with 272 and 261 respectively. They were followed in scoring by Bob Lemery with 190, Bill Hayes 151, and Bill jones with 1-19. South High went to the sections at Mechanicville as the Northern Conference Class C representative. The boys played a sparkling game by handing their opponents, Milne of Albany, a resounding defeat by the margin 72 to 60. The next step was the quarter-final playoff game against Fort Plain. The loss was a heart-breaker for the school, which had progressed so valiantly, but as the picture below will show the game was not an easy victory for the Plains- men. Faced with the problem of entering the Northern Conference, Coach Gray picked Pat Russo to fill the hole at first base, Dave Allen behind the plate, and jack Butler and Dick Bodette, to chase flies. Rounding out the first nine were veterans Don Allen, Dick Potter, Al Winslow, Bob Farry, and Fred Bullivant. With this being South High's first year in the Northern Conference, the Bulldogs had a hard time keeping up with the fast brand of ball, but showing up better in the second half of the season, South High established themselves as a team to watch.
