The Girls' intramural basketball team saw limited action this year, only playing two away games and participating at a play day in Ballston, where they played Corinth, Ballston, and Burnt Hills, winning one out of three games. Miss Marion Betar accompanied them to Play Day. The Schuylerville game was played on Friday the l3th, and the girls let the date get the best of them, losing 24 to 31 in a good, fast ball game. South High guards put up a good defen- sive zone but Schuylerville had the advantage in height. Girl f First row, left to right: Cora Sue Butler, Darleen Palmer, Sonia Plude, Jean Roehner, Lois lngalsbe. Second row: Phyllis Mayott, Doris Craw, Pat Linehan, Joan Chapman. Third row: Sally Lavin, June Lid- strom, Eleanor Centerbar, Virginia Orcutt. ln the second game, the South High girls lost by the slim margin of one point. It was a high- scoring, nip and tuck battle with the final de- cision a 53-52 victory for Fort Edward. Jean Roehner and Joan Chapman looped 20 points each and Virginia Orcutt also hit double figures with l2 points. Sally Lavin, Pat Linehan, Sonia Plude, and Lois lngalsbe did well on rebounds. ln intramurals after school, Freshmen, Sopho- more, Junior and Senior girls competed for the championship of the school. l6'a5k Hfbllff it f :- W. 5'- , 4, ..,,,-.-I

The girls did not finish the season en- tirely defeated, as they won 3 to 2 on the Glens Falls field. Later, on the same field, they scored a 5 to 2 shut-out. Jean Roehner, forward center, and Joan Chapman, left wing, shared scoring honors. To conclude the season, the Field Hockey Team was fairly successful at the Green- wich Play Day. Despite cold weather and snow flurries, South High won 2 out of 3 games. I fiicld I Hockey First row, left to right: Mary Swears, Lois Washburn, Eleda Washburn, Phyllis Chapman.
