South High had only two regulars back from their 1951-52 championship squad to serve as a nucleus for building the rest of the club. However, the Bulldogs showed plenty of fight and determination and again landed up on the top as Co- champs of the Saratoga County League. Jack, Potter, considered the number one high school ball player in the area, was the backbone of the club as he amassed a total of 489 points and set a new school and eastern New York 'scoring record with 51 points in the Hudson Falls game. Jack Celeste tallied 223. Other Iettermen who contributed much to the team were John Donnelly, Bill Cutler, and Craig Doherty, all rebound artists, and Jack Gatchell, the spark-plug who held the team together so many times. After taking the measure of Ballston 64-42 in a post-season playoff, the Bulldog hoopsters missed a sectional bid as they lost a 51-49 thriller to Corinth in the final play-off game. With four out of six Iettermen returning, the Bulldogs are waiting for next year when they'll be feasting their greedy eyes on their third straight Saratoga County League Trophy and a sectional bid. juniar Var ity l6'a kcfb ll Coach Sal Fedele's Bulldog pups got off to a bad start in their 1952-53 season and iust couldn't seem to get started until mid-season. When things were brighten- ing up, Andy Husarik was called up to Varsity and it no doubt hurt the squad. The J.V.'s were fed by their bucket man, Don Allen, who poured through a sea- son's total of 193 points, and by scrappy forward Jim Cutler, who bucketed 154 points. Dick Potter and Bob Farry improved steadily and showed plenty of poten- tially for future years as the former scored 98 and the latter 88 points. Much credit must also be given to Andy Husarik who tallied 77 points in 12 games and tfplkrfu to the keen ball handling of Ned Roach who hooped 73. li assi M .., X ' fait if M rf 'C 'V lip ll WL Pa,.f Q Q X L nfl' K 3 IIL X L ,f WE THEY WE THEY Ballston 4 7,,,,a 33 47 'Ballston ,oo,,oo.oa..AA,,c 550 44 Corinth fff.....A.d .,A7,, 3 3 38 Corinth ,,....,,,.accc..ccc. 41 43 Hudson Falls ...aaa..,aaa 42 45 'Fort Edward aaa........s.c 47 56 Fort Edward ....d bd,,,, 5 4 48 'Hudson Falls .sssccsss 5 ,44 65 Burnt Hills ..dbbd. ,,.,,, 3 5 38 'Burnt Hills ...... - cccccccc 45 49 5Cl1UYlerville . .,7,. 58 33 Schuylerville oo..oa,..., 543 47 Greenwich bbb.. 7 ,,tas 55 39 'Greenwich .ov..., 44 51 'Hoosick Falls ....Vv..., ,51 24 Hoosick Falls ..,..oaooaaa 37 25 Slillwaier .,...,. ..,s , 52 Q28 'Stillwater ,,,,,,s,,s,. 23,68 37 f lf X 'Denotes home games A F 1 f , 1-li .
