Led by Co-Captains Jack Potter and Jack Conklin, they flashed a 7 win, 3 ties and no loss record, when the final whistle was blown. The game that sent the team to the sectionals was the win over Lake George, when goalie Jack Potter made a sensational stop of a final-minute penalty kick, to give South High a l-O victory. For the first time in the squad's history, they went to the sectionals, but dropped a close decision to Corinth 2-l in the.first game. ' COACH MURRY O'NElL

South High had only two regulars back from their 1951-52 championship squad to serve as a nucleus for building the rest of the club. However, the Bulldogs showed plenty of fight and determination and again landed up on the top as Co- champs of the Saratoga County League. Jack, Potter, considered the number one high school ball player in the area, was the backbone of the club as he amassed a total of 489 points and set a new school and eastern New York 'scoring record with 51 points in the Hudson Falls game. Jack Celeste tallied 223. Other Iettermen who contributed much to the team were John Donnelly, Bill Cutler, and Craig Doherty, all rebound artists, and Jack Gatchell, the spark-plug who held the team together so many times. After taking the measure of Ballston 64-42 in a post-season playoff, the Bulldog hoopsters missed a sectional bid as they lost a 51-49 thriller to Corinth in the final play-off game. With four out of six Iettermen returning, the Bulldogs are waiting for next year when they'll be feasting their greedy eyes on their third straight Saratoga County League Trophy and a sectional bid.
