561410 gfll5'5' fflsfzfry Q25 Q Mama The fall of T949 found fufty fuve students grouped together to form a sketch framed by hugh ambutuons and udeals Muss Agnes Perua was appounted the artust to help us ove the rough spots un the canvas road to senuoruty We appounted the followung to form an executuve group whose uob ut was to add color to our portraut Presudent Harry Corcoran Vuce Presudent Jack Potter Secretary Sally Lavun Treasurer Joan Chapman Student Councul Representatuves were Nancy Stewart Jean Roehner and Jack Gatchell Much enthusuasm was expressed un our furst money ratsung protect a Chrustmas Homecomung Dance for former graduates a success June came soon and we passed our furst lesson un pauntung a pucture and establushung a name In September 1950 after a well earned rest we agaun took up brush and palette Our offucers were as follows Gordon Korb Presudent Wulluam Crudge Vuce Presudent Sally Lavun Secretary and Harry Van Scoy chosen to guard our profuts made from the exhubutuon of our new pucture the precedung year Jack Potter Tony Marcuano and Barbara Pepper were sent to the Student Councul Once agaun our Homecomung Dance was a success and wuth ut and several other worthy protects we further uncreased our worth We were faced wuth Regents for the furst tume and after much worryung we safely passed them and land down our brushes for a vacatuon ln our Junuor year we were faced wuth the uob of makung our portraut a worthy one Many new events were to be undertaken and we elected thus executuve board whuch would seek to lead us through thus all umportant year Presudent Robert McMorrus Vuce Presudent Gordon Korb Secretary Nancy Stewart Treasurer Harry Van Scoy we chose Norman La Marque Rosemary Ireland and Donna Smuth to represent us on the Student Councul Our Annual Chrustmas Homecomung Dance was enuoyed by all once more At the end of March we presented the play Structly Formal under the able durectuon of Mr Sparlung Our crew of artusts both actors and workers expressed theur best abulutues and we felt we had successfully entered the ranks of the well known In N'ay the Junuor Prom was held wuth Over the Raunbow as the theme Joan Chapman the boys chouce was crowned queen by last years queen Louuse Lyons In June the Junuor Senuor Banquet held at Fan and Bulls was a memorable nught for us all The old masters wuthdrew theur claums on South Hugh and bestowed them on us wtth the challenge to uncrease further the honor of beung the next graduatung class We felt un need of a class song and put Wulluam Crudge to work composung one The summer of 52 lay before us and we were soon approachung the clay of becomung Senuors As we gathered for our funal year we found that forty sux had turned out to complete the pucture of the class of 53 As class offucers for the last tume we chose Robert McMorrus to lead us wuth the aud of Wulluam Crudge Nancy Stewart and Joan Chapman as Vuce Presudent Secretary and Treasurer respectuvely As a result of a school electuon held the precedung sprung Gordon Korb Rosemary Ireland and Carol Garvun were sent to the Student Councul wuth Gordon Korb as Presuclent and Rosemary as Treasurer The uob of producung the Arrowhead the maun actuvuty of the Senuor year was before us Nancy Stewart was made Edttorun Chuef of thus prouect In November our play Dont Take My Penny was staged and well receuved We leave South Hugh havung learned that truly All Glory Comes From Darung To Begun We are no longer a sketch but a funushed masterpuece made and formed by many hands Our s lver and green stand out above the other colors un the pucture We say good bye to our fruends and go our separate ways perhaps not to see each other for some tume Thus however wull not dull the colorful memorues we have of the good days we spent at South Hugh By GORDON Kouzus Class Hustoruan i I A SLD N 45 l 1 'i Rl,-lk 1 456' 0 0 . 1 3 '- . . 7 1 I 1 1 1 F 1 ' , . u , . 5 u I I I u F I , - t , . f , 5 u 7 1 I 1 I V J , . ,, . ,, . . . , f . l I , ,t .
