Dear Students, Most of life is concerned with the manner in which we deal with the two-way challenges that confront us. As a challenge is presented to us, we in turn present one to the people who first confronted us. ln school, your challenge has been presented to you by the general public, your parents, the school board, and the faculty members in the form of a pro- gram of studies and activities which you are expected to successfully complete. You, in turn, challenge us to make the experiences worthwhile and to cause us to continually strive to improve the program. We trust that you have received the expected bene- fits and that you will continue to seek true facts which will be the basis for your decisions throughout life. You have caused us to realize that we must continue to make adjustments in our work that will enable us to present a stronger challenge to the boys and girls who follow you, Sincerely, DAVlD SELF, Superintendent To The Principal, the Faculty, and Students, Once again it is my extreme pleasure to say Thanks for a job well done. After long and careful consideration, the i960 Bulldog is dedicated, with sincere respect and devotion, to Mr. J. B. Merriweather, principal of the South Girard High School and Mrs. Bl. S. Merriweather, his affable and capable wife, Not only have they given inspiration to the student body, but they have also played a tremendously important role in the enhancement of our entire school program. Mr. and Mrs. Merriweather received their B. S. degrees from Morris Brown and Alabama State Colleges, respectively, and their M. A. degrees from New York University. Mr. Merriweather has been principal of our school for fourteen years and Mrs. Merriweather has taught in the system for fifteen years. She taught most of us in the first grade and many of us through the elementary grades. She has taught seven of these years at the high school after receiving her M. A. degree. Quite aptly, we wish to recognize all that they have done for us. They have always given us their time and sincere friendship when we needed them most. We feel that our hopes, our ideals and our dreams have been nurtured by both of them. They helped us to realize that anything we desired to accomplish could be done. This gives us the courage to face tomorrow-its successes and its failures. It is for these reasons and many more that we could not depart from this institution without showing them, in a small way, how much we appre- ciate their efforts by dedicating to them our 1960 BULLDOG.

PRINCIPAL' MESSAGE Parents, faculty and students: Many thanks to you for the very fine spirit of cooperation you have shown in helping make our school program successful. I am sure the results of your untiring efforts are imprinted in the minds of the graduating class of l96O which represents another link in our South Girard High School chain. Opportunities for service and positions of leadership awaits them. The challenge is theirs in Striving to move Ahead. They represent the living reality of all our endeavors. l pause, at this time, to thank you.
