AW , EXNEST ARDS ST ATE S S BETTY CROCKER HOMEMAKER WINNER LOUGENIA BEASLEY is this year's recipient of the Betty Crocker Homemaker Award pin for achieving the highest score in a 50-minute written examination on homemaking knowledge and attitudes taken by graduating Senior girls. General Mills provides a Sl,500.00 scholarship and an educational trip in April to each state Homemaker of Tomorrow winner. The runner-up in each state re- ceives a S500 scholarship, and her school will be given a set of the Encyclopedia Britannica. CAROLYN ABERCROMBIE CAROLYN ABERCROMBIE won first place in the city-wide typewriting contest, sponsored by lota Phi Lambda Sorority. Carolyn is a Sen- ior and a member of the Future Business Lea- ders of America. She typed 56 net words per minute --- 10 deducted for each error. GEORGIA TEACHER ofthe YEAR MISS CARRIE L. CLEMENTS receives the Georgia Teacher of the Year Award for 1959, from Mr. A. J. Martin, Regional Director of Re- gion Ill of the G.T.E.A. Miss Clements was first elected as teacher of the year in her own school, South Fulton High and Fulton County Teacher of the Year. Her being chosen as the Teacher of the Year in the State of Georgia is a signal honor to her school and her region.
